Taylor and I shared with our high school friends at our respective clubs about Jesus, God in the flesh, who desires to have a relationship with us. Like Cody told them last week, God is willing to go to great, extravagant lengths in order to have a relationship with us, and did so by sending Jesus so that we might know God. When we get to know Jesus, we’re actually getting to know God.
What’s great about Jesus is that he’s not a God who is far off or content to remain at a distance while we sort out the troubles of our lives. In Mark 6, Jesus sees his disciples in the middle of a storm, straining at their oars in their boat and going nowhere. Jesus, seeing their trouble, walks out to them on the water and calms the storm. Some of our high school friends are right in the middle of these storms and are desperate to be seen and rescued. The wonderful thing about Jesus is that he sees us in our trouble and he can get to us.
I want to leave you with some photos from both clubs this past Monday. I hope you enjoy them!
