A week before the first club of 2016 one of the committee members suggested we do a “donuts for Jesus” after club. Committee members would hand out donuts to the kids as they left, giving them to the kids personally as an additional touch/interaction with the kids. The idea was great and everyone had one, perhaps even several donuts.
As we finished up we walked back into the Club Room and all of the Team YL kids (upperclassmen who help put on club) were sitting on the steps and the chairs talking as a group. As I got closer and sat down, I could hear the question being asked “Where did you see Jesus in Club tonight?” and all the kids talking about it. Some said they saw it in their friend’s faces during the mixers (games where everybody plays) or an up-front game. Others saw him when we were singing songs or watching a skit. Kids talked about seeing Jesus in the lobby before club, and some saw him while everyone was just hanging out when they were eating donuts afterwards. It was a really cool moment to see the hearts of young people and how they can show the love of Jesus in the smallest of things.
So my question to you is, where are you seeing Jesus this week? Or better yet, where can you show Jesus to others this week? Is it a kind word in line at the grocery store or at work? Is it just being a little more patient with that person at school or work? Can we show Jesus to other by just being a better friend and seeing others more than we see ourselves?
I’ve done a lot of trainings all over the country and I always talk about “Little Things That Make A Big Difference”. Sometimes the smallest acts make the biggest impact. Lets take the mindset of a group of high school kids this week.
Where do you see God in your life?
