I was excited to give the club talk this past Monday, more than any club talk I’ve ever given. Talking about the resurrection with kids is kind of hard; it seems unreal and hard to believe. I think what makes the resurrection so powerful is that there isn’t another account like it for any other belief system. No religious figure has ever died and risen from his death; Jesus is so singular, so other, there’s not a category for what he did. But his accomplishment defeated death for me and for my high school friends and also loosed the power of sin in our lives. Jesus paid our penalty and then put an end to us needing to ever pay that penalty for future sin. If square dancing is what opens the door for me to communicate this truth, I’d do it every week.
